Welcome to Salem, Oregon - where the dead walk and that's just the way of life.

Zombified picks up a few months after the events of Zomburbia. Courtney has lost both of her best friends, broken up with her "boyfriend", and stopped selling Vitamin Z. So there's one plus there. She also has a new band of zombie hunters - Phil and Cody. Life seems to still be plugging along and Courtney is still waiting for news on NYC opening back up. But when she gets back to school, she finds there's a mysterious stranger asking about her. Weird.

While I thought the first book was just ok, this one I liked better. While it's sad that Courtney lost her friends in the first book, I didn't really miss them here because I always felt like their friendship was lacking. In this book, Courtney meshed better with her new crew. I actually felt the friendship here, and I liked her new friends. Phil was adorable. I liked his quirks and his shyness, and when we got his backstory, his actions made so much sense. And then there was Cody, basically the jokester of the group, he brought the lightheartedness that was needed in these dire situations.

But I still has issues with the book.

Mainly, Courtney herself. I'm still not a fan. While she was better in this one, she's still kind of a horrible friend. Losing her "best" friends in the previous book really did nothing to humble her and it really isn't until she loses someone else that her personality really changes and she becomes a more well-rounded character.

Another thing I had issues with, and this was the same way in the first book, is the pacing. The book started out great and I was really into it and then around the middle, the pace just died and nothing was happening. I was bored. Then at about 82%, the pace picked back up for the ending. This lull impacted my rating.

And speaking of the ending, while I liked how everything played out. I'm still a little confused. Nothing was really explained about Brandon's behavior and why he specifically was targeting Courtney so much. I get they dated briefly, but this doesn't seem like it was that much of a motivator for what he does throughout the book.

I read that the author would like to do another book but that it's uncertain if it will happen. All I can say is that if it does, I really hope he gets his pacing squared away and that questions get answers.

I don't read a lot of Zombie books. They usually don't engage me and they get over done. That being said, I really liked this book. This book kept me wanting to find out what happened next. You learn to look behind you and always keep eye in the back of your head. *I was given this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

**I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.**

I love Zombies and I love apocalypse books. I just didn't love this one. I can't really put my finger on why that is, the writing is good and the story is fine. However I just couldn't really get behind it.

THE REVIEW

Why this book?

I liked Zomburbia

What I thought

At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this this book because in the first book Courtney is so unlikable, but with that said I did like the first book. I'm happy to say Courtney is redeemed in this book and there is the awesome zombie action we got from the first book. An awesome squeal that's better then the first.
