Simply not for me. A meditation on raising chickens and aspiring motherhood, but I found it dull dull dull. Neither subjects nor a stylistic treatment of those subjects that appeals to my sensibility.

Can’t believe this sat on my shelf for 18 months and wasn’t even that good in the end.

I loved this book. I enjoyed every single page. The way it was written, the short chapters, the insight to a woman that is grieving and how she cares for her flock. I have chickens of my own and I may have enjoyed this book more because I could relate to the chicken lingo. But I don't think you need to know anything about or have chickens to enjoy this book. It's about a woman. And I loved it.

Glorious lyricism and wakeful observation of the natural world. I loved reading this.
