They've interacted once -- the book so far covers a week and most the book has been repetition : they keep saying the same things over and over. And if a hero is going to bring up so many damn times that they don't want to get married or have kids then I want to respect that. Those things aren't for everyone. I feel like their relationship (if they ever interact again and in a way to build??? a relationship) will feel hella forced at this point.

Look, I love me a good 'ol slow burn (sign me up for that club and give me the platinum card) but a romance can't be considered a slow burn when they've only interacted once, not including the two times he saw her and ignored her and the book is almost halfway over. A slow burn romance is all about the build up.

So, not thanks and now I'm hella sad because Cutie & the Beast sounds so cute but it is the same author and :(((( now I dunno if I should give it a try or not.

This book was a little unexpected. I thought it would be a fun story about a big, beautiful girl finding love with a handsome CEO but it was even better than I imagined. Rian is such a warm-hearted, smart, woman at work and yet her weight and shape make her lose her confidence when at the gym. Carlos is a one-night stand expert always looking to find the next model thin women but when the two meet when out with friends everything changes.
The push and pull of attraction between the two is amazing and they fit together better than you would think. I couldn't put this book down and was glad to get to the Happily Ever After.

An ARC was provided by the publisher via Social Butterfly PR.

There was humor. There was heart. Unfortunately, I just didn't feel the romance going on between the main characters. I liked Rian, and I appreciated the manner in which the author chose to tackle her weight issues, something I'm very much familiar with. More often than not, the whole weight thing is clouded over with heavy doses of humor, but while M.E. Carter does include humor in this story, it's not the kind that had me laughing at Rian, instead it was about me laughing with her. She was bright and confident and was certainly inspiring at times.

The thing is, I was never a fan of Carlos's. He was full of himself and thought he was God's gift to women. Yes, he had his own share of insecurities that were revealed later in the story, but he just didn't click with me, and I didn't get what Rian saw in him other than his looks, so the connection was never made on my end. I actually thought she'd be paired with Abel, her trainer, who seemed far more deserving of someone like her and who was a great guy who was supportive of her weight loss journey. But all Rian gets is Carlos. Weight Expectations gets three stars. ♥

I feel like the "fat" character was written by someone who has never struggled with their weight. Fat people do eat veggies, FYI. It was frustrating to read, as someone who has struggled with their weight since childhood. Stupid, stereotypical stuff. I also listened to this on audible and found the male narrator's voice detracted from the story. He sounded like he was ready to go surf the next wave.

I really enjoyed this book. I really liked Rian - I have been in her shoes by going to the gym and hoping no one is looking as you try to figure out things and then another day in up only in a towel while it burns down- something like this would happen to me! She was smart, funny, witty comments- all loved. Carlos was just okay in my mind- Rain stole the show and also Carlos was just a jerk it was hard to sometimes picture them together.

I enjoyed the writing the quick remarks, Rian's story and character- going back to Knitting in the City was also soooo much fun! Quinn :)
