Nothing really happened but I enjoyed it anyways, Renata and Damian were hot and I really enjoyed their interactions.
I’m actually mad that some chapters of the book were literally copy-paste of the novella, what was the point if you are going to put it in the book?

BDB meets Sopranos

Picked up this book from a Facebook ad. This is a surprising and fantastic read. It mixes my favourite elements from BDB with mafia type fiction such as Sopranos or The Godfather.
I do love first love stories where the couple comes back together. This was just the remedy I needed to combat a serious book funk.

Best thing? There is a back catalogue.

This book had me hooked from beginning to end, no way to put it down. Damiano and Renata grabbed my heart and mind and had me on a tight grip the entire book. After 10 years since Renata left. Damiano is head of the De Luca Syndicate, an incident makes them cross paths again, the feelings are still there but the possibility to a second chance seems far, they have to overcome obstacles and the most important thing, trust in each other. This book blew my mind, the characters are amazing, the plot had me on edge. I loved it.

I saw on Amazon that this was a "standalone" and so read it. Didn't realize it's 4th in the series, and very clearly 4th. The epilogue is incomprehensible, but I assume that is cleared up by reading the other books, which im not sure I'll get to. This book had an obsession with "lies" and "deception", but I found the repeated quotes annoying, and rarely read them because they mostly said the same thing over and over. There were some continuity errors between chapters and scenes, but it was fine, just a little annoying.
This is a fine addition to a series that I'm not particularly invested in, but it was a quick read.

Damiano De Luca: 1.75

Suffice to say, this book isn’t worth rereading to write this review, so this is just going to contain the emotion that I felt toward the main character and oh so lovely “twist” of the book, not the forgettable plot the author trying to install

Second-chance, enemies-to-lovers perfection. Damiano and Renata meet as teenagers and form a slow and steady friendship in the prequel Renata Vitali. His dad is crazy, and her dad is a controlling menace. I loved how the prequel ends, with Renata feeling deceived by Damiano. In the full novel, Damiano is older, mistrusting of Renata, and ambivalent of his feelings for her. Their connection, however, had me swooning so hard. Their back-and-forth in this book is perfection, and the hidden secrets, lies, and twists in this mafia world have me yearning for the next book.
