Love some good twists, but this book is low key problematic.

fairly (haha, fairy joke) good faerie smut, as far as that goes; the love triangle wasn’t nearly as toxic as I had been expecting from this era of fantasy YA

so uhhhhh.... i didn't really like this ?
this was the first book i picked up after a 4 year reading slump and although it was easy to read and enjoyably stupid in some parts that wasn't enough to make me like this book.
for starters, i did not like any of the characters. i appreciate that feyre was a fairly strong female main character with her own hobbies, but i just didn't have any care for her whatsoever ?? tamlin absolutely sucked and was way too brooding and irritating in my personal opinion and although i prefer rhysand over him that isn't really saying much because i don't particularly like him either and the whole section of him
furthermore, the plot ....no. this whole curse debacle was so weird…the fact that tamlin was wearing a mask for majority of the book was really awkward…i get it, it’s a curse, but the fact feyre slept with him while he was wearing a MASK ?? wiTH HIS LACK OF PERSONALITY ?? also tamlin barely allowing feyre to leave the house was so infuriatingly annoying, like okay you don't want her to get hurt because that means you can't break your curse but also, i don't care about you !! and feyre so perfectly not saying ‘i love you’ to tamlin when that was the last part of the curse that needed to be broken was so stupid and lead to the most boring and anticlimactic 'high stakes' battle scenario i've seen in a long time. amarantha is possibly one of the worst villains i've ever seen ?? she didn't feel like a properly fleshed out villain and was so one-dimensional to the point it was unconvincing. and the riddle ....let's just not talk about that cliche mess lmAOOO.
i will say that the world building was interesting, and i would like to see more of the other courts because we weren't really shown much since tamlin kept feyre locked up for majority of the book ...
anyways, i didn't completely hate this book but i definitely didn't love it, i will probably pick up acomaf at some point in the future because i am somewhat interested to see how the series will pan out.

Spoiler
drugging feyre was questionable to say the least ?? the other characters were either so insignificant or boring to me that i barely remember who they are so....oops. i kind of wish that the family dynamic made more sense as feyre seems so desperate to go home yet she talks about how she had a horrible family life?furthermore, the plot ....no. this whole curse debacle was so weird…the fact that tamlin was wearing a mask for majority of the book was really awkward…i get it, it’s a curse, but the fact feyre slept with him while he was wearing a MASK ?? wiTH HIS LACK OF PERSONALITY ?? also tamlin barely allowing feyre to leave the house was so infuriatingly annoying, like okay you don't want her to get hurt because that means you can't break your curse but also, i don't care about you !! and feyre so perfectly not saying ‘i love you’ to tamlin when that was the last part of the curse that needed to be broken was so stupid and lead to the most boring and anticlimactic 'high stakes' battle scenario i've seen in a long time. amarantha is possibly one of the worst villains i've ever seen ?? she didn't feel like a properly fleshed out villain and was so one-dimensional to the point it was unconvincing. and the riddle ....let's just not talk about that cliche mess lmAOOO.
