Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for giving this to me as an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

"Guess Who" starts off interestingly enough, a bunch of people locked in a hotel room. One of them is a killer and a detective TV show host must figure out who it is or else they all die.

Okay, but for something that sounds like it comes right out of a movie, I felt like it really dragged in spots. And maybe part of this is my fault since it took me forever to read this. But it would hold my attention with a chapter cliffhanger or two and then next thing I knew, I would be picking up some other book. Maybe if I had read this in one or two sittings, I wouldn't be so critical of the pacing.

I wasn't held much by the unoriginality and also, I figured out the "who dunnit" as soon as the introduced the character. That kind of ruins the fun for me and I just all the suddenly just want the book to "move on with it"

Dwie gwiazdki.

RATING: 2.5 STARS
2018; Hanover Square Press/HarperCollins

I had such high hopes for this novel! The synopsis reminded me of a horror film so I was looking forward to the suspense. I found the story a bit slow and lacking the suspense octane the book seemed to advertise. Once you figure out it all out, the unraveling just seems to be a bit tedious. I will admit I sped up the latter half of the novel. Maybe my expectations were too much, so don't forget to read some of the more higher rating reviews.

***I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through Edelweiss. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.***

I found this book to be what's expected for the mystery genre; the author is self aware that the least likely person is always the most suspected but it still is revealed to be them, the antagonist reveals his master plan. I wish there was more of an opportunity for me to be able to figure out who was the 'horse head' guy but the readership couldn't because we are just introduced to the character a chapter before. Same thing with the name of the killer being underlined, we don't get informed this until the main character does. If you like the Saw franchise and aren't a big reader I would highly recommend but it just wasn't for me, I do want to read more mystery though to see more nuanced takes on misdirecting the audience. Also, just a personal thing but I hate books with pages that are cut in different sizes.

Personally, I found this one to be a little bit of a let down. The concept intrugued me and was expecting more horror and gore than I found in this novel. Although plot may seem a bit clichè (people locked in a room but someone is a killer, 3 hours to figure it out, or else...) the plot twists will keep you reading until the very last page.

This was a dark thriller that definitely kept me guessing till the end.

Six strangers wake up in a hotel room, there is a body in the bathroom. Someone in the room is the murderer and it is up to Morgan Sheppard, tv's "resident detective" to find out who.

In my opinion this book was book-ended with a really strong start and a really strong (almost) end.
The opening chapters were like a punch in the gut. Although it tapered off a bit the author did a very good job in keeping you roped in and guessing as to who the killer is and why this is all happening.
At a certain part in the book it flips back to the past and this was when it got really good again.

This was a fast, easy read. Definitely a book you can read on a lazy afternoon.

I first picked this up because the premise reminded me of the Saw movie franchise.
This definitely isn't anything like that.
Mystery usually isn't my thing but I did really enjoy this book and I wasn't able to guess who the killer was.
