This series is officially among my all-time favorites. I've loved it for along time, and I was nervous that it wouldn't stand up to a re-read after so many years - but it's actually even better. These books, which meant to much to me in my early teens, are just as good in my early twenties. At this point, I'll expect that I'll still love them no matter how long between re-reads, because they're incredible.

Fire Study is both the grand finale of the trilogy and the next step in Yelena's progression as a character. In Poison Study, Yelena took back control of her life. In Magic Study, she learned to reconcile the different parts of her identity. So in this last (well, not really last, but the final book in this trilogy) book, it's time for her to really find her place in the world.

It's an impressive journey. It's a whirlwind of emotions, action, magic, power plays, and a young woman being pushed to the brink and figuring out who she really wants to be. I love this series beyond all reason.

(And I really hope that the brand-new trilogy of Yelena books is a worthy continuation).

Disappointing overall. I liked the first one the best out of the three and m, though I know there's a second trilogy on a different character, I won't be following up with it. Very similar plot to the second good but just not as good.

It wasn't heartbreakingly bad but it certainly wasn't good in any way.
I could not have cared less about the characters, not to mention that the plot was sort of the same as in the previous book. Just a lot of yadda-yadda.
Many things were left unresolved as well. Yelene never even told her family about what happened with Reyad.

I was really excited to FINALLY read the final book in this series however I ended up being slightly disappointed. I did love it but not even close to how much I loved the other two. I found that the start was really boring and hard to get through. The characters were all whiny and annoying plus there was a lot of repeating events.

BUT, thankfully, it started to get better. The pace started picking up a little and Yelena quit being so annoying. I did find the ending was a little rushed but other than that it was perfect. I liked the loose threads that were left and it made it so there’s a possibility that there could eventually be a 4th book.

Honestly I have no idea why I didn’t like this third book as much as the first two. I gave Poison Study and Magic Study both 5 stars, but idk this book just felt like the same thing happened over and over again. I was constantly confused about the magic and some of the characters (though this could partially be because I read the other 2 books years ago), and I just didn’t careeee anymore lol.

I think I loved the first book so much because I loved Yelena and Valek’s love story, and I gave the second book 5-stars because I was high off that book or something haha. But this book just didn’t have the same ~magic~ for me. I felt like everything was solved easily and I just felt bored reading it :(

I definitely am still interested in reading more of Maria’s books but I don’t know if I’m gonna read the sequel Study trilogy. Maybe one day!

Loved it!

This one,I must say was okay but will still not be able to surpass [b:Magic Study|46202|Magic Study (Study, #2)|Maria V. Snyder|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388350824s/46202.jpg|1254584].

I love the fact that Yelena grew with the book,a little. From a frightened food taster to an ingenius soulfinder.Neat!

Anyway, overall it was a good book though I wasn't really surprised when Roze turned out to be Jal.

1. Better than the second one, but only average until Valik comes back, then the amps are kicked up.

2. I liked the religion that Snyder developed. Very intriguing.

3. Otherwise, it's still pretty much what I thought of other two.

I think this is one of my most frustrating and favorite books. Yelena is a great character who grows and makes mistakes and learns from them. She does what needs to be done. The romance between her and Valek does not overshadow the rest of the book and it does not overshadow her decisions. Such a contrast from most YA books nowadays.

Ari and Janco could have had a bigger part in this story, only because I really do love them! And a part of me still wishes for a book 4 where the Commander's story could be more fully explored.

That said this book is an excellent conclusion to the series. And if you can make it through the parts where Everything Goes Wrong, and then that part where It Goes More Wrong, it's worth the read.
