I've been reading the WoT since 1995, and it often feels like I grew up with the characters. I bought this book shortly after it was released, but I hesitated to read it. I wasn't sure that the series could (or even should) go on after the passing of Robert Jordan (RIP). I finally decided to read The Gathering Storm, and I'm very glad I did. Long-time readers of the WoT series agree that around books 8-10, the series hit a low-point, but thankfully started on an upward swing. The Gathering Storm continues that upward trajectory. In reading this book, I was strongly reminded of the feel and tone of the 1st few books of the series (which I loved). In fact, several of the characters whose POV I had been tempted to skip in the past (because they had gotten SO irritating - Nynaeve I'm pointing at you), have grown so much that I almost like them (gasp!). I heartily recommend The Gathering Storm to any fans who had been tempted to leave the series. I think that the remainder of Robert Jordan's story will be told in a way that honors the amazing beginning of this series and will be a satisfying read.

Every book of the series- every good and bad moment, the hard books, the boring moments, the weird torture scenes- every single moment was worth it to get to this book. I felt every single thing that happened in this book. I would read this series again only to get to this book. It made it all worth it. If I could give 10/5 I would. 15/5! This book was

Egwene's POV was 21% of the book (according to something I found online). And I really enjoyed every moment of her and the White Tower's journey. Rand's plot was the other main part of this book and it was almost as good. A lot of the other story lines did not get much time and did not interest me nearly as much.

Loved this book. Brandon did a fantastic job of picking up the story. He cut out a lot of the crap that had started to take over the books and I found it hard to put it down. I am really happy with what happens to Rand in this book, cause I wanted to slap him.
Egwene is my fav character in this installment.

What an epic comeback this is. The Gathering Storm lifts the series from its middle-book slump, and marks the beginning of the end-game. Brilliantly written scenes and gripping plot keeps you going till the end!
