I was excited for this one because I LOVE What Was Meant To Be and have been curious about Tyler's other books. This one sounded like it would be the perfect mix of the age-gap drama vibes that What Was Meant to Be had but sprinkled in the celebrity angle plus bodyguard! I could not wait to try this one, and overall, I might've hyped it up a little too much in my head. It wasn't bad, and I really enjoyed it, but I was left wanting more in the end. I wanted more tension between Shay and Damian. It felt like they made things seem like they were going to have a lot more issues to be together, and granted, they both had a lot of baggage, but at the end of the day, it wasn't that hard for them to pick each other. If you like celebrity bodyguard romances, this one will be perfect.

Shay Eastwood & Damien Hunt

This story follows up and coming actress and Hollywood starlet Shay Eastwood and her long-time bodyguard Damien. In the beginning of the story Shay
catches her boyfriend of 3-4 years? in the act of cheating with another woman at a club.
This incidence only frees up her mind, and allows her to look at her bodyguard Damien the way she used to before her and her boyfriend started dating, with lust and want. Little did Shay know, Damien had been fighting those same feelings for longer than he can remember. Though Shays bestie Veronica always swore he had the hots for her.

There is little angst between these two and they end up giving into these mutual feelings fairly quickly. Which hey, no complaints here! I loved the story and the history both of these characters brought to the story, and though I found the ending to be a little predictable, I'm glad I read it.

The spice is phenomenal, of course. This is Q.B. Tyler we're talking about after all. I would definitely rate it a 4/5🌶️ for heat lol. Another banger from a tremendous author!

Got a little too soapy towards the end but something about me is idgaf and Shay Eastwood/Damian Hunt’s communication and shared kinks were 🔥💯!

No third act breakup! Bodyguard abandoning his ethical, professional self to choose his possessive, horny caveman self! A biracial America’s sweetheart! I was SAT.

Holy hotness! I love the bodyguard trope and this book was absolutely perfection. This story was so compelling I couldn’t put it down. I really liked Shay she felt very relatable despite being a famous actress. I equally liked Damien our very protective bodyguard. The chemistry and understanding between the two of them was off the charts. He truly would do anything for her.
And when we found out he slept outside her bedroom after her parents died in case she needed him?? Swooning!
. Their story is dramatic and romantic and spicy as hell. I will say Shay’s friend Veronica got on my nerves at times, she felt less supportive than she should’ve been. It felt like constantly pushing Shay to go out and party guilting her when she wasn’t interested. Aside from that this book truly delivered a top tier bodyguard romance. I recommend this book for fans of the movie The Bodyguard, bonus that this one has an HEA for the couple instead!

I was really intrigued by the premise of this book but it did not deliver for me.

I thought because of his position as her bodyguard and the age gap we’d get lots of tension, pining and angst but we get nothing. It all happens off page 5 years prior and we get a crumb of a flashback scene. Without all the tension of will they/won’t they, there’s no payoff when they do come together.

The only chemistry these two characters had was that they were both conventionally attractive. That’s not enough to keep me invested in their relationship. And I say this as an avid reader of spicy romances- the spice was so repetitive. I ended up skimming through most of the scenes.

The rest of the plot was just messy and the conflict at the end was so unbelievable. Plot holes abound.

The bodyguard trope isn't one I've read much of, but it is an interesting dynamic. I liked that this wasn't insta love or super fast.

You get a few glimpses I to life when Shay first met Damien and I'll be honest I was a little overwhelmed by Shay's immaturity. But thankfully when itoved to present day I actually really liked her.

I loved Damien. He isn't perfect, but he has it bad for Shay and takes really good care of her.

This book gets SUPER steamy. But it has a good story and there are romantic moments too.

I will admit the suspense part wasn't my favorite because I figured it out really early in the book. But aside from that it was a really good read.

I received an advanced copy of this book through The Author Agency. This is my honest review.
