Red Queen follows the basic formula of a YA dystopia. It’s often predictable, especially at the beginning, and nothing about this book is particularly innovative.
Nonetheless, Red Queen is still very entertaining. There were some major plot twists that I never expected, and there’s plenty of drama and violence to keep me intrigued.
It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it was still a fun little read and I intend to read the rest.

Awal-awal cukup membosankan, tapi dari pertengahan sampai akhir lumayan seru. Mungkin kalau aku baca ini waktu SMA, bakal terobsesi banget, tapi pesonanya untukku sekarang itu kurang menarik, ditambah plot twistnya yang ketebak. Walau aku tak suka dengannya tapi aku bisa memaklumi

Mare yang mudah mempercayai Maven dengan mudah, dia hanya anak remaja yang tiba-tiba punya kekuatan super dan harus hidup sebagai orang lain, sendirian dan kesepian. Sedangkan Cal, posisi dia cukup sulit, dia baik tapi dia tetaplah Perak yang tumbuh untuk menjadi Raja Perak. Ketika dia digerakkan bagai boneka untuk membunuh ayahnya sendiri, sang Raja, itu sungguh kejam, dia pasti akan mengingat mimpi buruk itu selamanya. Tidak mengejutkan melihat dia tidak melawan sama sekali disandera oleh Farley.Belum ada keinginan untuk baca buku selanjutnya, mungkin nanti.

Fun read! Th blending of fantasy elements and a dystopian future came across a little jerky in some areas, but it was a refreshing change of pace from you standard high fantasy story.
I definitely see why Red Queen has maintained hype over the years. The main characters are interesting—though our FMC is definitely a little more whiney than I typically prefer—and the twists were great!
