Despite the incredible trauma these 17 and 18-year old girls have been through, this was a fun ride. You have to suspend reality obviously, because the situations they’re in are dangerous and likely would *not* have turned out the way they did. I mean, they and then still get to run off into the sunset. It’s a messy story that’s somehow so clean. My big complaint is that I do feel like we focused a lot more on Winona here and I would’ve liked to explore Lucille’s current sitch as well. Winona wrapped everything up nicely enough in her life, but Lucille deserved to get back at her brother and she deserves to have her mom at least acknowledge (or not!) her leaving. I get maybe the reality is that Lucille will never know, but because we got , I would’ve liked Lucille’s too.

Usually not a fan of dark or tense stories, but this one found just the right balance of adding in some levity right when it’s needed. The ending left me wanting one or two more chapters as it wrapped up quite suddenly. Overall it was an exciting read that pushed me out of my comfort zone!

Overall enjoyed but didn't love this YA take on Thelma and Louise.
I liked the portrayal of female friendship and how empowering and healing it can be, but this theme could have been explored a lot more in depth.
The abuse and abandonment experienced by the main characters is pretty harrowing. Definitely not a fluffy feel-good read.
