Dare I say that I loved this book just as much or even MORE than the first one in this series? SWEET TEA & SYMPATHY was such a fun read, and this next one in the Southern Eclectic series picks right up where that one left off in the little Georgia town of Lake Sackett with the decidedly eccentric McCready family. This time with Frankie, the 20-something town's coroner and embalmer as the main character. Okay, now when I say the family is eccentric, I mean, really eccentric. Like, they own a bait shop connected to a funeral home eccentric! I adore the exaggerated, down-home, Southern sassiness of these books and would be oh so happy to have Frankie be the one taking care of any of my dearly departed family members, that's for sure! Oh, and there's a h-o-t romance between Frankie and the town's new sheriff.......only a 3 on my steam factor, but definitely lots of romantic tension!

This can definitely be read as a stand-alone, but I would highly recommend reading SWEET TEA first so you don't miss out on that fun!

AND, I just discovered that there are also 2 novellas as well ~ SAVE A TRUCK, RIDE A REDNECK (technically first in this series) and PEACHY FLIPPIN' KEEN (comes chronologically between SWEET TEA & AIN'T SHE A PEACH). These appear to only be available digitally, so I just bought them for my Kindle - only $1.99 each!

Hilarious
Molly Harper makes her characters easy to relate to, and the things they say, do, and happens to them are by far the funniest I've ever read!! My poor dog kept looking at me like I was having a fit of some kind!! I knew that Frankie's book was probably going to be my favorite, just by the way she treated Margot in Sweet Tea. Duffy could steal the title, but I doubt it.

This series is great if you love a sarcastic wit & a solid story besides the main relationship. Frankie is a coroner, embalmer, & shit-stirer. Her life began as a dream come true, turned nightmare for any parent. Surviving a childhood illness made Frankie love life & respect the dead. Working for her family’s funeral home/bait shack was a natural decision.
Eric resigned from Atlanta PD for, well let that be a surprise. He found the interim job as sheriff in Sackett’s Lake to be a good place to regroup. After all, the city had almost no crime, no stress, & no zombies.
Read the novella, Peachy Fillin’ Keen, for the intro to their story. Watch the embalming chemicals explode with the sparks from these two.
One thing I found gross. The author (throughout the series) uses the word “cheesy” to describe the woman’s appearance. It just sounds, again, so gross.

Ain’t She a Peach by Molly Harper is a light-hearted, humorous novel that is absolutely delightful. This second full length addition to the Southern Eclectic series can easily be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the previous installments as well.
Frankie McCready is a tad eccentric but so sassy and full of life it is easy to overlook her faults. She is twenty-eight but still lives with her over-protective parents and she is just tiny bit spoiled. Frankie is more than ready to move out on her own, but she just cannot quite force herself to have a conversation she knows will be difficult to navigate. Her profession as a mortician and coroner is unique and her habit of talking to her clients is unconventional yet endearing. Is Frankie up to the challenge of catching the sneaky vandal who is plaguing her while at the same maneuvering a tricky romantic entanglement with interim Sheriff Eric Linden?
Eric is a transplant from Atlanta who wants make his Sheriff position in Lake Sackett permanent. He left his last position in the Atlanta police department under a bit of a cloud so he takes his job very seriously. Eric and Frankie share an unexpected history that makes their inevitable encounters somewhat uncomfortable. Just as they begin to explore the chemistry between them, Frankie’s impulsivity creates a major headache for Eric.
Ain’t She a Peach by Molly Harper is a winsome novel with quirky characters, a lead protagonist who has some maturing to do and a male lead who needs to loosen up some. The combination of these elements results in a marvelously entertaining and incredibly heartwarming story. With plenty of down home charm and a slight romantic aspect, this newest addition to the Southern Eclectic series is sure to be a hit with readers who enjoy contemporary women’s fiction.

Cute and light story. I really enjoyed the characters in this and can’t wait to read the next one. 3.5 stars.

I enjoyed many of the characters but had a problem picturing Frankie and Eric whereas I could put together an image of everyone and everything else. I loved the love story aspect as well as the crime but I think were a few things that could've been left out. Overall a quick and delightful read.
