love any time focusing on how kick ass toph is. also really cool seeing the seeds planted here for spirit and human coexistence that’s explored later in korra’s series

This review is for the story as a whole, not each part, since I read all three parts back to back.
I liked this-- a little less than the previous two because there's less Zuko content. Toph's growth as a metal bender, especially if you know from Legend of Korra where metalbending progresses to, is amazing to see. Like in The Promise, I liked seeing the way the story handled complex topics that it easily could've simplified: colonization, Aang's wish to bring back Air Nomad culture, Toph's relationship with her family.
*This book is part of my personal reading challenge for the summer 2021, #MHA30for30challenge. The goal is for me to read thirty books from my Kindle so that I can reward myself and buy the thirty volumes of the My Hero Academia manga series that are out so far, to my knowledge.

my favorite quotes (⚠️ some spoilers)
"Katara?" Aang.
"Sokka's back?" Katara.
"No, not yet. I just wanted to hear your voice," Aang.
They are the cutest.
"Not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you,"
"I love you, my daughter. And I'm sorry. For everything."
This was healing to see some reconciliation between Toph and her father.
"Then you've got to hurry, Aang, you can't wait for Sokka and Satoru to bring the mask back," Katara.
"*sigh* I hate destroying things," Aang.
"I know," Katara.
They are so beautiful together. They understand each other.

Pretty good wrap-up to this set, though the very end felt a bit disjointed from the rest. Glad to see Toph and her father reconciled though.
