Really, really I have no words for that ending this book is more 4.5 stars it loses half a point for starting out slow. But besides that it was awesome. And I’m still rooting for Jules.

Can we just talk about how good this sequel is? I went into it not having very high hopes because of how prevalent the second book syndrome is in the majority of book series, especially trilogies, but One Dark Throne just reignites my faith in fantasy (squeals commence)!! Every time I think the plot has boiled down to its last moment, it just thickens further with all kinds of betrayal and double-crossings which makes it such a page-turner.

I’m really satisfied with how Katherine’s darker side emerged from her character which adds a new layer of allure and mystery to her. Banding Mirabella and Arsinoe together was good? It’s more of a question than statement because I guess it was necessary so that Mirabella’s hatred for Katherine would be fueled by her grief over Arsinoe. I get that this book was trying to give Joseph’s character a redemptive arc as well but I still despise him with an undying passion and I’ll never stop hoping that Jules will dump him for the piece of arse that he is. I am partially glad that he died because good riddance.

The ending was slightly anticlimactic because everyone got away unscathed (and yes, Joseph does not count) and the bloodthirsty side of me would’ve preferred if someone was injured, better yet fatally (ahhh don’t come after me) but it does set a nice precedent for the next book where they begin their life afresh. (oR WiLL tHeY???)

I’m super looking forward to when all three of them clash again and I’m using this enthusiasm as a good enough reason to give it 4 stars.

Editors note: oh my gosh this is so nOt a trilogy (ngl I don’t want it to end either because this series has been delightful thus far) so please forgive my so very unforgivable mistake
