The pacing slows a bit in the middle but overall a well-executed and focused story, with an interesting premise and engaging & flawed characters

Schwab does a great job of pulling together religious concepts and science into the overall theme of this read.
Eli, holding this God complex as if he isn’t flawed himself.
Victor, demanding vengeance for the wrongdoing inflicted on him 10+ years later.
things started to really pick up about 50% into part two, and the ending was a pleasant moment honestly.
For Victor to get his vengeance and of course Sydney bringing him back, and see Eli go down, because let’s be honest, he was not really a good guy.

I was a little leery about picking up the sequel Vengeful, but now i’m curious to know how the tale of these two will continue to unfold.

Vicious is such a dark joyride of a book. It's got everything - women who are the most powerful people around, homoerotic friends-to-enemies, a hulking sidekick who is more brains than brawn, disability rep, an incredible and satisfying solution to the central conflict. I love the jumping around in the narrative, and the way EOs manifest their powers is super thought-provoking. I don't want to say too much, because I think this book is better the less that's known about what happens, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. Can't wait to read Vengeful.

This book swept me off my feet from the first few pages, and I’m still not ready to come down! It’s one of those rare books where every word is precious AND it’s also a page turner! It’s thought provoking and thrilling. Schwab’s writing is simply beautiful, and the changing timelines are incredibly fluid and effective to the story.

It has me thinking morality and what makes a hero vs villain, and I love that the motivations of the characters are so fleshed out.

I would absolutely recommend for anyone, but especially if you love:
🦸‍♀️ superheroes, villains, and super powers
🦇 the Dark Knight trilogy
✨ thought provoking and thrilling fantasy

I absolutely cannot wait to read book 2; I will
be getting my hands on a copy soon!

I couldn’t put this book down. Mitch was probably my favorite character.

There are definitely no good guys or bad guys in this story. At all. Maybe Dol. Dol is a good boy through and through.
