This book's only purpose was introducing me to things I'll possibly not like (wintery & snowy settings, isolation/single locations, one day/night settings) and things I'll possibly like (cat/mouse trope, literary writing, character studies) in thrillers. It all felt so standard and predictable in a bad way. I felt no connection to the story whilst reading and probably will forget I ever read it. Hopefully, the movie will have more of an effect on me.

First off, this book is very slow. Then,
Spoiler I flipped to a random page on accident and read a paragraph and it was just blatant racism. After reading some reviews, I found out that it in no way adds to the story No one is telling the character it’s wrong and there was zero development around it. Just racism for the sake of racism.
Spoiler I am no longer interested in finishing this novel.

I need to start taking reviews with a grain of salt because they always set my expectations too high. That being said, this was still a good thriller.

I couldn't stand Darby at first, but I found myself warming up to her towards the halfway point before fully loving her character by the end. With the rest of the cast, I couldn't decide if I hated or loved them. There aren't many side characters : aside from Darby, we have five other distinctive characters.

As for the culprit
Spoiler(in this case : one of the culprits, Ashley)
... I found myself fully enraptured by them. Their motive, their point of view, the way they spoke.. I couldn't help but find myself being manipulated by them. By the end, I was as smitten with them as they were with Darby. For sure one of my favorite antagonists of any book.

So many twists and turns, I wouldn't say this book had me on the edge of my seat, but it certainly had me sitting up straight. Every time I thought this book was going to end, that Darby and this little girl, Jay, were going to escape, 'No Exit' would toss that hope aside and shoot me with a nail gun. I would groan and in the words of our villain, say "oh, come on."

This was the exact kind of nonsensical stupidity I needed after two heavy fantasy books. Can’t wait to see the movie and laugh through the entire thing.

I really enjoyed all of the characters and each of their motivations. Even though I hate Ashley, his character was still very intriguing and really well written. I loved the multiple perspectives and it really added to the atmosphere of the book. I recommend this to anyone who wants a really good, single title, quick read.

i thought this was going to be a mystery but apparently not we learn who the kidnapper is in the first chapters, i have mixed feelings about this book some parts were cheesy and sometimes the villain came of as the over the top, mustache twirling kind and it took me out of the story but other times i would find myself rooting for the fmc and guessing what will happen, overall it was a good time but just keep in mind that this book relies on the shook value if you want things to make sense all the time this is not it there are some stupid decisions
