Excellent start, mediocre finish. The author could have cut down about half of the end, which spent too much time world building and explaining things that I don’t think the readers necessarily needed answers for. I do like the concept and the romance is decent (though I’d argue there’s rape). There’s enough here to make me excited for the next installment but I hope the author trims it down this time around.
