I couldn’t stop reading. Tiffany D Jackson is so fantastic. The parallels of horror to child abuse and missing children is really impactful. I hope young adults see what she’s saying and this book changes them how it changed me. Fantastic book that everyone should read if they’re in the mood for a tough ya mystery/horror.

Broke. My. Heart. This is one of those books where you have a pretty strong idea of what is going to happen in the first few chapters and you spend the rest of the book bracing for the moment it happens? This was me reading Monday's Not Coming.
Spoiler This story devastatingly demonstrates what happens when a community is disconnected and everyone "minds their own business". Claudia fought and fought and FOUGHT for everyone to believe that her best friend was missing, and the adults were so caught up in either ignoring what was right in front of their faces or thinking someone else would handle it. Two children were murdered and no one found them for months and months! Claudia's mental breakdown after the discovery of the bodies was jarring (as those experiences usually are) and I was a bit disoriented trying to figure out where we were in the timeline.

I usually appreciate dual timelines, but the two in this book were incredibly close, so at times it was difficult differentiating between before and after the discovery.

Strong themes of child abuse, poverty, gentrification, and failing social services are pervasive throughout this story. PLEASE review the content warnings!

As I read this book, I was genuinely confused with the timing of events because of the "The Before" and "The After" sequences. The story became muddled together which lead me to believe that Claudia was an unreliable narrator. Once the plot twist was revealed, the timing of events started to make a lot more sense to me which makes me want to reread the book! However, one thing that I found to be disturbing was the fact that Claudia's parents met when her mother was 19 years old and her father was 29 years old. I thought this was extremely unnecessary and they could've been written with a more appropriate age range. Overall, I thought the story was written cohesively in a way that left many readers, including myself, at a loss for words.

This was based on a true story. Its really sad for kids to go through this. They don't deserve anything like this at all. I don't want to mention to much because it was hard just reading it.

I LOVED this book. For a 400+ page book it kept me hooked and the plot twist made me want to re-read the whole story again. This was insanely sad and I love how the characters are written. Overall, a must-read!!!

Part of me knew what was coming but it was still one of the most tense audiobooks I've ever listened too. I was on edge the entire 10 hours just hoping it didn't end as cruelly as I knew it would.
