This is a great book for those that work with children or are mandated reporters. The mystery drew me in, but it was the real world problems the book mirrors that had me thinking for days after finishing. I als enjoyed the way the differing timelines were used in the novel.
SpoilerThe question at the end of the novel, about whose responsible for protecting our children especially stuck with me as someone who interacts with children at my job everyday. Too many times people let the abuse like Monday faced in the novel fly under the radar until it's too late.

Ended up reading this in one sitting because I needed to know what happened - I cared so deeply for these characters. This story goes deep and dark.

I did find the chapter headers confusing and a bit distracting while reading, but once the twist is revealed, it all makes sense.

This is my second novel from Jackson, and she is easily turning into an insta-buy author for me.

This book should be marketed as a horror/thriller.

For all the missing children, and for all the children who aren't believed, this story sings to the vulnerability and easy dismissal of children and their experiences that the adults just fail.

Wow was that depressing. I cried which I wasn’t really expecting, but I really got to know the characters and felt for them. I do have to say I thought it was weird how it was written and how Claudia was written, but it makes sense when a certain reveal happens. This is such an important story, but very dark. I also really like Claudia as a main character and how strong she was. I really enjoyed the friendships and the family and how great of support system Claudia had. I do have to say it was also kind of confusing how it was written because I kept forgetting what timeline we were in.

I LOVED this book. For a 400+ page book it kept me hooked and the plot twist made me want to re-read the whole story again. This was insanely sad and I love how the characters are written. Overall, a must-read!!!

First, this books covers heavy and important topics, and anyone interested in reading it should research the themes of this book to see if it is something they should consider reading. It is important to talk about these topics, however, I was not the biggest fan of this book.

For me, the timelines were not distinct enough. I found it hard to remember which events were happening "before", "before the before", or "after", especially since the defining event is not revealed until the end. Further, the event itself was not majorly shocking as a plot device, though in action should have been shocking enough to make the timelines clearer. Also, I am not the biggest fan of YA anymore, but even so, this writing felt juvenile at times, and spelled things out too much. This book could have been shorter and likely would have been more impactful because of it.

SPOILERS: I think the way they handled Claudia's mental health after the fact was strange. Why allow your child to go through the grief of this event multiple times before finally getting help. I also was not a fan of Michael's involvement as a boyfriend, who felt forced as a character so that Claudia could have some sort of happy ending, when in reality, she really needs help and time to think and grow.
