Wow. Read through the night. Couldn’t put it down. Have taken out all the author’s other books from the library. Horrible story that needed to be told with the bravest child at the center of it all. This is a book  that can change you, if that’s something you’re willing to allow.

what a page-turner! I was on the verge of tears on several occasions, this book has such an important message. Claudia's self-centeredness really annoyed me at times, but then again my thoughts were similar to hers when I was 14 so I can't really complain. The book had the potential to be 5 stars, but it could have been a tad shorter and there were two tropes I didn't like:
the romantic subplot with Michael (it was okay-ish) and the losing memory stuff. Explains the time skips, but every time the ending is explained by memory loss, it automatically takes away some creativity points.

A really gripping mystery. I should have seen the ending coming but I didn’t. Some moments were really difficult. Definitely check the content warnings.

The audiobook performance was great though I admittedly got a little mixed up with the chapter titles and trying to keep track of timelines. Another great Tiffany D. Jackson read / listen!

Objectively, this is the best book that I have read from Tiffany Jackson. As far as pacing goes at least. But the timeskips were disorienting and the content was abhorrent (but intentionally so). It was incredibly difficult to listen to, and incredibly difficult to think about. While the plot twist was shocking (and more well written than Grown/Allegedly), I was frustrated with
the fact that her amnesia was two years of lost memory? And that she was actively out in society/school? Usually cases that are that severe are in intense therapy and guidance to assist the victim, rather than shield them... so this wasn't believable to me. Had it been several months of amnesia? Maybe. But over a year? Two years?? Not as believable.

This is likely going to get 5 stars from me eventually, but it was one of the most disturbing books I’ve ever read (and I read a lot of horror), so I just feel like I need to sit and digest it for a while. It was brilliantly written. The unique format really drove home the emotion.

Edit: I don’t see a content warning option for this, but if you struggle with feelings of unreality or helplessness or gaslighting, this is going to be a rough read. It was a rough read for me.
