If I gave out six-star ratings, I would give six stars to Rage Becomes Her. This book is singlehandedly the best feminist book I have ever read. It's the book I didn't know I needed. The book I was looking for when other feminist works left me wanting more. Absolutely EVERYONE should read it. Feminists will read this and feel validated & empowered. Cishet men and anti-feminists should read this to learn about the full spectrum of misogyny in daily life and its insidiousness.
Before beginning Rage Becomes Her, I expected this book to be about women's rage and the way it is often suppressed or looked down upon - and it is. But it's also about so much more. Soraya Chemaly skillfully unveils every aspect of sexist behavior and the cultural norms that contribute to women's rage - both suppressed and expressed. I found myself nodding along and feeling my own righteous anger over all of the systemic misogyny she describes in these pages. Rage Becomes Her also takes an intersectional approach and deeply criticizes the gender binary - something which not all feminist books manage to do.
I don't think I can - nor do I want to - summarize this book further because it's impossible! Every single word is worth reading, so if you see this review: go read it!!!
