I liked this book. I was a bit thrown off because I couldn’t exactly place Shira’s age at first. I thought she was in college but then realized she was in high school. The romance matched her age appropriately but flying to the Nantucket house and being the only one there felt very college aged. I liked the parties and the outfits. I loved how Shira grew as a person through the story. She really learned a lot about herself and her life.

I picked this up based on a review by a bookstagrammer and was not disappointed! it is a really lovely story, that pulls you in from the start.
As someone who always found the idea of romance and dating and relationships rather baffling, I thoroughly enjoyed Shira's struggle to figure it all out.
And Tyler was the perfect counterpoint - seemingly confident in everything, but with his own insecurities.
The dynamic between the two of them was fun, and you knew they were going to end up together, if only they would actually communicate how they were feeling about each other!
Setting it within an extended family, and with the celebration of both Hanukkah in Shira's family and Christmas with Tyler's family just rounded it all out beautifully.
Very much recommended as a cosy read during the Winter months. And the narration on the audiobook is perfect.

A teen romance that is light, set around the winter holidays. The main character is annoying, she is closed off and doesn’t have friends because she thinks no one really likes her, but there isn’t really a good explanation as to why she thinks this. She is just insecure but according to the descriptions, she is beautiful and talented, she is close with her family and lots of people around her want to be friends with her.

This was so cute! I binge-listened to it over the course of just a couple of days as part of my effort to read as many of the 2023 Youth Media Award books as possible this year. This was a "silver" book (otherwise known as an Honor book) in the Young Adult category of the Sydney Taylor Book Award.
And also, I didn't realize until searching for it here on goodreads that this is actually the second book in a series, and there will be a third book coming out next year. BRB; gotta go add some things to my TBR.

Definitely felt longer than it needed to be and the usefulness of the middles’ play to the plot felt questionable, but it was mostly cute. I enjoyed the Nantucket winter setting, as well as the big love for big family and cousins that are like great friends 💗
Also, you don’t have to have read the first “Golden Doors” book to read this one, but as someone who did not, it still felt a little awkward or ? at times when there were clearly details from the first book being referred to.
