I enjoyed the first half more than the second which felt a bit less well-plotted and rambling at times. Interesting look at using genetically enhanced individuals to fight a virtual war for the remaining humans living in this distopian future. However, not much info is given on the conditions for anyone other than the main, coddled, character in this world. That would have been nice to go into a bit. Still, the cliffhanger at the end leaves me curious enough to want to pick up and read the next book.

I kept thinking about Ender's Game while reading this one...
