In progress: I’m trying so hard to finish this for three reasons.
1.  Lots of people recommended it in a book group I’m in.
2. I don’t like to DNF.
3. I’m hate-reading it.

The mmc is tstl. If I ever met a man who is as cocky as he is and makes the claims that he does to a perfect stranger, I’d laugh in his face and believe he’s lying or delusional. Even if you can suspend reality for the sake of a book, Keane is a total jerk. In a video he thinks will be educational and viral, he teaches men that, in an argument with a woman, “deny, deny, deny any and all wrongdoing until she either starts second-guessing herself or forgets what she’s mad about all together.” Direct quote. He’s impossible to like, ends every other paragraph with “son” and says “bee tee dubs” unironically, and frequently. He’s a frat boy personality on steroids. And while Maddie initially dislikes him, for absolutely zero reason that is disclosed in the book, she suddenly starts thinking he’s the funniest person she’s ever met and completely ignores the dumb stuff he says. There’s no reason written out for why she thinks he’s a good person other than his humor and his looks. He has no other redeeming qualities.

Update at 63% DNF.
