The female mc was pretty unbearable throughout the book and it felt like she was written with the intention of making her a bitch as her main character trait and I wasn’t a fan. She was too cocky and mean to her sister from the beginning up to the epilogue which is weird considering her sister never did anything wrong and has only ever wanted to maintain their relationship which fmc disregards at every turn. Epilogue was pretty bland so there really isn’t much too look forward to at the end unfortunately. I also hoped there would be more depth to her relationship with the mmc but it was pretty meh.

I liked Adler and Saylor’s story I liked how it was an age appropriate romance + soccer two of my favorite things, I was a little surprised how much I liked it since I usually only read dual POV books, but I still really enjoyed this. Having a girl mc who is sexually active but it isn’t seen as her being a whore and being focused on a singular goal without her being seen as a cold hearted bitch I loved it, honestly go Saylor 💜

For the most part I really dug this book. While it is definitely a soccer/football romance, it read much more like a generic sports romance to me than specifically a soccer romance. That said the book is very sports heavy, so if that’s a general sub genre you enjoy this is a good pick. One of the better straight sports romance I’ve read. Probably the best straight sports romance where both love interests play the sport.
Both love interests have incredibly low emotional intelligence, which got very old at times. This book is single POV told from Saylor’s perspective and her total lack of awareness of anything beyond soccer was tiresome. Obviously people live with trauma, but I just found it a bit unrealistic for someone Saylor’s age to have never sought therapy. Adler isn’t much better in the emotional intelligence department, but he is somewhat better and not being subjected to his internal monologue made me like him more.
The tension and the build up in this book are absolutely kick ass. As much as Saylor’s pining, without knowing that was happening annoyed me, that tension build was truly delicious. The sex is fantastic, both Saylor’s and Adler are sexually liberated and their adventurous qualities made for super fun hot scenes. The ending was a let down for me, but I think that was only in comparison to how amazing I found the rest of the book.
