wow this book… WHEW. this book touches on some really interesting shit. seeing how quinn deals with her mortality and how her time is limited is something i’m glad they don’t skip past. then you have torrent… whew. some of my favorite scenes in this book are of quinn observing him and then thinking of ways she can make him more comfortable. i’m still unsure of where the story is going, but not in a bad way. i’m curious to where the author will take it.

I did not think I was into monster romance but maybe I just haven't read the book for me. Because I LOVED this book.

Plot:
Quinn is living her life and trying to make the most of it. After receiving a heart transplant she knows she doesn't have all the time in the world. So at 21, she is beyond shocked when she finds out there may be even more threatening things in her life than a heart with a deadline. Demons and Shadowkind exist. And they want Quinn. But Torrent, Crag, and Lance are charged with keeping her safe by their demon boss. They don't know why, but they know she's special.
Writing:
The book is told from all 4 POVs and is easy to read. It's fast paced and set in contemporary Florida. Not a lot of complex word-building but the author does a good job providing information and context. I'm not sure what the overall series will be like but I'm guessing a medium-burn romance/spice. There was only 2 explicit spicy scenes in this book and they rest of the focus was on relationship development. The only thing I didn't like was Torrent's nickname for her 🤣

It's not that the book was bad exactly. I just felt it was way too slow burn for me. I finished reading it and I was just really glad it was finally over. I would have liked a scene with her parents, but at this point not even the MAJOR cliffhanger will get me to read the next book.

This book was given to me as an arc this is my honest opinion.
This book was good at times there were parts that were a little slow but i loved the characters and i think Lance was my favorite and Torrent too because who doesnt love a dark broody character. Spice wise it was 1.5/5 not a lot of spice but was still good when it was happening.
It is a reverse harem one female 3 guys well shadow guys.
I highly recommend it.
