60% cheque-swindling information, 40% talking about the various women he charmed and bedded. More entertaining as a work of fiction than an autobiography (most has been debunked since the book’s release).

Frank Abagnale does a great job relating his story of conning his way across two continents as a pilot, a lawyer, a doctor, a professor, and an FBI agent.

Asi jsem čekala moc :) Životopis Abangala je opravdu neuvěřitelný, až z toho člověku zůstává rozum stát. Zvlášť, když vezmu v potaz věk, ve kterém svou kriminální činnost zahájil. I tak to ale nebylo nic, co by mě nějak zvlášť upoutalo...

I enjoyed this film. Naturally, I saw the movie first so I went into this book thinking that I would be familiar with the life of Frank W. Abagnale. Wrong. By chapter one, the movie was already a lie and I was in for a treat.
While it was a pretty solid memoir, and it completely blew me away on how creative and intelligent he was between the ages of 17 - 20, I felt that it was missing bits and pieces. Or maybe what was there was there.
The one thing that puzzled me is how the book ended the way it did.
It's a good con-story memoir and I don't regret reading it. However, I'm a little soured on how much I enjoyed a not very truthful adaptation of his life.

In the movie, we learn that he escapes, gets caught, escapes....finally gets caught and works with the FBI on catching people like him. This just has him escaping jail and then as he is walking out, the cops are surrounding him and he just walks right past him pretending he is one of the higher ups in the FBI. What?
