Easily one of the best books I’ve read in awhile. Very accurate portrayal of <PTSD and severe panic attacks> and the process of healing from those. Tons of heart, lovable characters, and realistic struggle and problem solving. HEA. I’ll definitely be waiting for her next book!

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: hockey player x figure skater, black cat heroine x golden retriever hero, single guardian, college, friends with benefits to lovers, he falls first, protective heroine, mental health rep

𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: PTSD, panick attack

OMG THIS BOOK IS SO SO GOOD AND YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!

Unsteady is a beautiful and emotional book about a figure skater that takes care of her brothers while dealing with her own problems and a hockey player that after an injury he needs time to get back on the ice without having a panic attack.

These are just general things about Sadie and Rhys, but they are so much more.  Sadie is so strong and she fights to have a bright future and to give the brothers a somewhat normal childhood. She barely has time for herself and when she meets Rhys she can finally breathe a little.

Rhys has been dealing with panic attacks ever since the incident at the last hockey game he played. He clings to Sadie as the only person who can help him get over them, but when he starts to have feelings he wants her as a girlfriend not someone that helps him, so he starts to win her over with small but very meaningful gestures for her.

I love this book so much. The way the author wrote the character development and the mental health rep were exceptional. Not to mention how beautifully it was written!! I will definitely re-read this book and read the next ones she will publish from now on.

If you want a book that will make you go through all possible emotions and if the tropes above are some of your favorites then what are you waiting for...go and read it!

Thank you Peyton Corinne for the opportunity to read this amazing book in exchange for an honest review.

I discovered this book before it was even out and was immediately drawn in by the plot and characters both and made it my mission to read it the second it was published. I wasn’t disappointed.
I fell in love with Rhys and Sadie both right off the bat; the definition of golden retriever and black cat. Despite usually liking it the other way around (golden retriever girl, black cat guy), I found that I loved them as they were just as much. I wanted to hug Rhys and Sadie both through the pages so many times and found myself empathizing with every hardship they both came across. Like every Hockey boy, Rhys captured my heart immensely. I realize that the main focus was on Rhys and Sadie, but I found myself wanting to learn entirely more about the other characters too (I.e Oliver, Liam, Bennett, etc.). If that doesn’t show you the kind of characters written, I don’t know what will. I thought Corrine did a phenomenal job at writing each character. I found the writing to be very hooking as well, certain lines drawing my attention that had me wanting to remember for later (of course there were however a few cheesy lines, but almost every rom com does so who am I to complain?).
All that being said, the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because I felt it was rushed in many aspects. With how much trauma both Sadie and Rhys went through, I felt the story lacked more insight within their trauma (though it was still drawn out extremely well during certain parts. Rhys’ mental health journey was very special and dear to my heart.) I was also a bit thrown off by Sadie accepting her desire for Rhys so fast. She went from locking her heart away when it came to the “golden boy”, to immediately calling him her “addiction” in the next chapter. As happy as I was to see them together so fast, I also wouldn’t have minded to see it play out first. It felt like the storyline was just thrown out the window simply so they could get together. Not that that’s always an issue, I just felt like I missed a few steps with how fast it was. (Though maybe I’m used to slow burn who knows).
Despite those silly little nit-picks (and even then with them), I fell in love with every little quirk and all the characters and I thought this was a wonderful debut novel and I can’t wait to see what Corrine comes out with next.
