for someone writing about a contemplative life, she certainly doesn't share much of her inner self, why she decided to quit her high powered news job and start looking at the monasteries across the world. She drops multiple comments about Boris Johnson, knowing him personally for years, but no commentary about what is going on even though she had a front side seat and at times an influential role as an editor.

The cover blurb makes it sound like the author spent time at these monestaries...nope.  at most a weekend, sometimes just a day trip.  Most of the enlightenment she got was from books she read about the places she visited with the visits themselves adding to what she already knew.  Interesting, but not what I was expecting.  Some good nuggets of self evaluation and self knowledge in there.
