THIS BOOK STILL HITS JUST RIGHT!!! You’ve got: scifi futuristic stuff; a very cute slow burn; a fun quirky sidekick (i love you ikko 5ever); tragic heroine; fairytale influences. I LOVE ITTTT!!!

I will say I definitely understand why people said Meyer has some uhh… savory Orientalism in this, especially when Cinder compares her stepmom to a China doll which is not great. However, that was kind of the only thing I recall being not great? I could have missed something else though!

The narrator was really great and I love how she had a variety of voices for a bunch of characters!

**audio** I wanted this to be so much more. There were parts I just wanted to >>FF and get to the parts I really liked about the story. Maybe it was the narration. As a fan of the Cinderella genre, this one just didn't do much for me.

“Soon, the whole world would be searching for her—Linh Cinder. A deformed cyborg with a missing foot. A Lunar with a stolen identity. A mechanic with no one to run to, nowhere to go. But they would be looking for a ghost.”

Y’ALL. This book was so good! I can’t believe it took me so look to read this!! A retelling of Cinderella as a cyborg is so unique and that’s ENDING! I had a hunch Cinder was going to be Princess Selene, but I was still SHOCKED that it’s true!! Also, Kai needs to be protected at all costs. He literally is going to be eaten alive by Queen Levana because he just wants to do GOOD and bring peace while she’s just pure evil. I can’t wait to read Scarlet!

I thought I'd hate this, because I'm not really into like, cyborgs and robots, but AHHH. SO. GOOD. See my full review here: http://xbelleofthebooks.tumblr.com/post/136035323230/fairytale-retellings-seem-to-be-a-pretty-common#notes

I think I missed what everyone's loving about this book. I am half bored and half "i want to read it fast so we can be done with this".

Tho the premise is interesting and promising so i will continue the series.

This is my 3rd or 4th reread and I treasure this series so much. It is so sentimental to me... I love the worldbuilding, the sarcasm, the romance and the character dynamics-and the cleverness of the retelling! I'm so glad I decided to reread this series.
