HOnestly there were parts in the book I would've loved to have seen in the film, so I like it for that alone. Also FinnRey forever because she was straight up ready to die with him at the end my dumb kids ;____;

This review is not only about the novelization itself, but the audiobook production as well. I've seen the movie 3 times and heard that the novelization fills in many of the blanks left out of the movie. This is true, however, don't expect the novelization to give everything away - there are 2 other movies planned for that! But the novelization does expand upon several scenes and quite a bit of dialog, as well as adds some scenes that were not in the movie at all. For example, .
If you enjoyed the movie, you should definitely get your hands on the novelization but I highly suggest you listen to the audiobook if you are able. The narrator, Marc Thompson, was absolutely fantastic. The audio is practically a full production with much of John William's score playing in the background, full sound effects (blasters, light sabers, battle sequences, etc.), as well as what seemed to be the actual voices of BB8, C3PO, R2D2 and Chewbacca.
This was probably one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to, and I listen to A LOT of audiobooks. I really just can't say enough good things about it.
SEE THE MOVIE. LISTEN TO THE AUDIOBOOK. AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!

If you liked the movie, you will like this book. It's pretty much word for word true to the movie, but there are a few small scenes in the book, that are not in the movie. I'm guessing they will be deleted scenes. I give this one 4.5/5!

Whilst not perfect as it was driven off of the screenplay, it does fill in some holes and adds some depth. I wonder how much things would be different if the book came 1st & the film adaptation came later. Just my gut feeling I think both would have ended up much better.

Yikes. I expected better from this. Hated Foster's writing style; for a story with so much heart and character, its novelization is dry and dull. Hoping for more out of the TLJ novelization.

great storyline, but it was a little too academic for my tastes.

Could have been better written. Lots of telling, not showing. Took almost 2 months to read. Easy to put down.

Some extra scenes. But nothing that's really important. Since I've seen the movie before reading this book, I can't give it a perfect score. Even though the movie was a perfect 5/5.

Gosh, I wanted to like this book. I could not read it. I struggled to the end. There were too many big, fancy words that interrupted the flow of reading. Big, fancy words are lots of fun but really break up my focus when there is one every sentence. If you like lots of fancy words - I’m not judging you! It just wasn’t to my taste.
