luo binghe’s bleeding heart really would be the death of him, wouldn’t it? i felt overwhelmed by it the first time, and felt even more the second time around.

this volume felt so chaotic in its confrontations, it was almost too much, but i still enjoyed all of it. it delivers so well in character depth, seriously. across all fronts, not just sqq and lbh.

for that, this is a favorite.

Ran through this book as fast as the speed of light!

Maybe not so fast at first, since LBH gets kicked into the abyss... huhuhu but SQQ's side quest did entertain me quite a lot!

Comedic and... LBH and SQQ's cat and mouse chase was very entertaining, though it did escalate quite a bit... (forgive me, I was reading this whole novel as a whole, and so some details of other volumes might be jumbled up in here...) But yeah! I really like this volume... might be my favourite? SY's unreliable narrating just heightens the experience much more... like how are you so oblivious? LOL

For a quick summary of events, we go through the

Huan Hua Palace plague and water Prison segment, followed by Sqq entering Lbh's dream realm. Sqq self-detonated to save Lbh when his demon sword was trying to cause a qi deviation. Then we have a 5 year timeskip where sqq comes back because of that mushroom. It grows into a new body. Lbh had been keeping his bed warm with Sqq's old body for the last 5 years and was now big cray-cray. We have another couple dream segments where Lbh monches on Sqq's mouth like a feral animal. Sqq meets up with Zhuzhi-Lang, the snake dude, and ingests his blood to stop Lbh's blood. Sqq escapes thanks to some prostitutes and then goes to Cang Qiong Mountain Sect where Lbh is bullying all the side characters and waiting for Sqq to show himself because he knew dream Sqq was the real one.

Bingqiu is just red flags in a trenchcoat.
