Really enjoyable read - atmospheric writing really sets the scene when Kyle and his housemates release the ghostly residents of Brackenby House. Genuinely creepy as the ghosts gradually gain power and make themselves known - suspense builds to a gripping final few chapters which are not for the faint hearted!
Horror at its best - an excellent debut novel from MJ Mars!

“Strength, Stealth, Frivolity, Deception, and Malice. The secret to the hidden depths of the human condition.”

Kyle and his friends live in a house with a horrific past. 5 spirits were released and subsequently committed several atrocities before they were banished back into the walls of Brackenby House by Kyle’s distant ancestor, Lucius. On Halloween they decide to try and conjure these spirits again, and things begin to shift amongst the friends. The ghosts slowly begin to attach themselves to the housemates determined to continue The Suffering, and they refuse to let anything stand in their way.

Damn these ghosts are BRUTAL. A steady build up of dread until all hell breaks loose. The 5 different spirits inflict their special type of torture on the housemates in a visceral and haunting (heh

This book is everything a spooky horror book should be. Haunted houses, ghosts, gore, cursed families, the whole nine yards!
