Animal Farm by George Orwell

For the most part it was an alright book. I think it’s overrated and extremely repetitive, but some parts were really good. I was upset by Boxer being murdered, but saw it coming. The last paragraph of the book is incredible though, and the last sentence was a great one. “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”

This read was so sobering, especially with what has been happening politically since 2016. There were several moments that brought me back to when I was younger reading this book: moments of shock that left my mouth agape. The ending made me feel a way as well. Great read again from Orwell.

All I can say after finishing this book is that everyone should read it if they can. Animal Farm is one of those classics that offers a timeless, universal warning about totalitarian regimes. It's an excellent allegory that delves into the consequences of corrupted Communism and how the rich will manipulate the working class. The usage of animals to retell The Russian Revolution and its aftereffects was near perfect, albeit heavy-handed if you ask me ( The latter didn't affect my enjoyment however ). It's an easy read with fast pacing, and I would recommend reading the introduction as well after finishing the story since it provides more insight into the political atmosphere back then.

You're simply delusional if you think you're not a resident of Animal Farm. Humans suck.
