me??? sobbing hysterically over tokito muichiro??? who could've possibly seen that coming??? (have a wild guess who my favourite hashira is.)

while muichiro is definitely one of the primary reasons why I enjoyed this volume so much (well, as much as you can enjoy the volume featuring his backstory but then giving you emotional whiplash with how he roasted a literal upper rank demon into submission... he's a child your honour), I can't deny how terrible the pacing of this part of this arc is. (this is also a critique I had while watching the anime.) I loved spending so much time with muichiro, but it took so much time away from the upper four plot that I'd completely forgotten about it at various points in this volume. I still enjoyed this volume for what it was, but just like how I'd give praise for the previous volume where it's due, I'm also going to give criticism where it's due.

n e ways I'm going to curl up in a ball and continue crying.

This volume was more focused on the mist guy which I enjoyed because I like him as a character.

I really loved the backstory given to Muichiro and his experiences growing up without parents and his angry brother. I thought that this was super ineteresting and explained why it is he acts so cold and callous.
As well, seeing how quickly he dispatched Gyokko is a further fucking awesome illustration to the strength of the Pillars.
I will say that I admittedly did not love the portrayal of Mitsuri the Love hashira. She clearly has a ton of really cool attributes but she is immediately portrayed as a ditsy woman, which is unfortunately a trope in a good amount of manga that I have read. It just gets old!

loveee this volume!! amazing character development for muichiro, and it's great to learn more abt his and mitsuri's backstories as well (my precious bbys..). the theme of collective power is once again reiterated, and the art for certain fight scenes are great. however, i wish kyokko's defeat was longer - it currently feels too rushed - and the paneling was more varied. still, volume 14 is one w/ powerful emotional impact, and thats always sth to be lauded in my book.
