I've been working my way through John & Jana's books. I absolutely love how colorful, diverse, imaginative, and playful they all are. They're fun to look at and I imagine they would be delightful for young children of punks and countercultural folx. As with most children's books, though, it can't teach for the parents. A lot of concepts are presented that will likely need to be explained to kids for it to have any relevance to their lives.

Love, love. love this! Gorilla Gardener moves around the city planting seeds, literal and metaphorical, and their energy is contagious. A must-have for all elementary classrooms.
