There were a crazy amount of typos in this… like I feel as though no one at penguin actually read the manuscript before sending it to press. And this was the paperback, too, so they had at least a year after publishing the hardback to fix this. Whole missing words as well as pure nonesense like “he put his head in his heads”. I’m begging you, publishers — just because you know a book will sell doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make an effort editing!!
Anyway How To Build A Girl is one of my favourite books of all time, but this one felt a bit too… lovey? Like it felt like A Comedy Book, rather than a Book That Is Humorous. It read in that way. Suzanne was soo annoying and I didn’t find her funny at all.
That being said, Caitlin Moran is an excellent wordsmith and writes so beautifully when she wants to. Her use of language is colourful yet accessible, and she puts points of feminism across in such lyrical ways I want to print whole pages of paragraphs out and stick them on my walls.
