Meh. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for a vampire romance (or "Breed" or whatever), but this book kind of got on my nerves in a very standard romance novel kind of way. Too many obvious reintros of this awesome warrior and his mate and THIS awesome warrior and HIS mate etc. etc. I get it, they already had their own book. The hero was ok but the heroine's whole situation rubbed me the wrong way. Tortured, raped, and isolated for 75 years... I didn't really want to read about that :( So yeah, I skipped half the book due to boredom and just wanting to get to the end. You know it's bad when your favorite part is the book being over. OOPSIES.

DEEPER THAN MIDNIGHT wasn't one of my favorites for the series in terms of the relationship side of the story, but it did progress a lot of the overarching story line and I enjoyed that part. Things are getting more and more serious in the battle against Dragos and this one really went out on a bang that I can't wait to see the results of in the next book. There's also a lot of development in Chase's storyline as a side character. He's spiraling more and more into anger, depression, and bloodlust and a lot of that painful journey is seen in DEEPER THAN MIDNIGHT.

As for the relationship, I did like the idea of Corinne and Hunter together because they're both damaged people looking to find their footing in an uncertain world. Despite Hunter's brutal upbringing, he's a natural protector and the perfect person to keep Corinne safe. However, his stoic and emotionless demeanor made it really hard to latch onto his character outside the surface level person we've been presented with up to this point. Hunter still felt like a side character, in terms of development and interest, even in his own story. Additionally Corinne felt a bit one dimensional as well and while I felt like her personality was stronger she still felt very surface level.

Content Warning: Corinne was kidnapped, tortured, raped, and experimented on for decades; references to forced childbirth

More like a bridging book. I was really looking forward to a good Hunter;s story, but was disappointed.

Disappointing. I had high expectations for Hunter's story and I'm sad to say that it didn't live up to the hype. That being said, the book doesn't go without merit. There were things that took place which set wheels in motion for a number of future outcomes (read: books). But, to ME, this story felt akin to a book in another UBER FAMOUS brotherhood-vampire warriors-romance series that also left many of its readers bummed by its lack of development in the personal aspect in favor of development of the series as a whole.

There is nothing better than sticking it to Dragos. Hunter does that by falling for Corrine and taking steps to destroy Dragos but crushing those that help him.

This one is by far my favourite book in the series. I was squealing and clapping like a proper pillock on all of the Hunter and Corinne scenes.

I am going to 4 star this one...... Although the last quarter of the book was beyond brilliant it took a while to get there.....

The book is focused on Hunter accompanying, Corrine the breed mate that was freed in Brock and Jenna's book, obviously things don't go as planned leading Hunter and Corrine to spend time together and get to know each a lot better.

At first i wasn't keen on the coupling, i did feel that they were both a bit to damaged to be any real crutch to the other.... But as the book came to its conclusion i came to understand why they were paired together and who as a unit they could really help.

I like that the book shows us a little more of Chase i think its preparing us for his story.

I'm a little disappointed with this book the action and storey was great like all L Adrian book but I was really gutted with hunter and corinne. I think because I had stuck high expectation for the romance part it spoiled it for me. Totally shocked in some bits like with chase and corinne son. Still really enjoyed it.
