I had to read this book twice before I could properly appreciate it and what was going on.
This was such a cute romance between a human woman and an AI robot. It was a super cute and endearing rivals to lovers between photographers. Both characters felt well rounded and like they really belonged in their world and were impacted by it. I also really like the themes it was poking at and trying to explore in such a short story.
I think that’s the weakness though, that it’s so short. I feel like I was missing a lot of info and context while reading, which was due to the quick pacing and how short the book is. I wish we had been given more context for the world and what was going on. That specifically was WHY I had to read it a second time, because I needed the ending context to really understand what was happening.
Outside of that, the artwork is BEAUTIFUL. It has so many little details and really suits the story. Some of the artistic choices to convey feelings and tone and help tell the reader what’s going on were so good.
Overall a cute read, I enjoyed it, it just needed to take a little bit more time with the story.

Thank you to Amulet Books and Netgalley for the ARC of this graphic novel.
In a futuristic world, there is a lot of contention around AI, its potential uses and downfalls, and Indira is filled with negative conceptions of AI. Fawn, however, IS AI, and isn't going to let Indira get away with looking down on her. Forced to work together for their photography internship, Indira and Fawn learn a lot about each other and the struggles that they all face.
This is so cute! It is such a meaningful and beautiful sapphic romance that shows love can come from the most unlikely of places. I loved the character development and the intricate backstories about both characters, and wish I could have learned more!
The art wasn't final for this ARC, but from the samples, the final art will be breathtakingly beautiful. I absolutely cannot wait to have a final copy to read and enjoy!
