A surgeon's views on how medicine can be better: "It does not take genius. It takes diligence. It takes moral clarity. It takes ingenuity. And above all, it takes a willingness to try."

WOWOWOWOW! Dr. Gawande sure knows how to WRITE. Every chapter was new, fresh, and made me THINK. I am still thinking about this book a week later. He talks about a lot of stuff that most doctors wouldn't want to talk about (malpractice, making mistakes, not being the best program/hospital/doctor, should doctors be ranked?, ect.) I am incredibly impressed and already bought more of his books. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Fascinating. Gawande is pretty much the Malcolm Gladwell of medicine. He explains interesting connections and talks about unusual problems and solutions. And he writes with an ease and simplicity that makes his discussion of medicine clear to any reader.
