Clarkeswold Magazine is truly one of the best SFF magazines. But I felt particularly moved to write something about this issue because of the outstanding and achingly lyrical novelette by Motswana author Tlotlo Tsamaase. Eclipse Our Sins presents an apocalyptic earth ravaged by climate change with a largely immoral mankind split in increasing class disparity. And abused Mama Earth is angry…
I will not forget this story or the writing delivering a verse like “It snows in parts of them that didn’t know the sun.”
Content notes for Eclipse Our Sins: violence, pedophilia, parental death, lesbophobia, xenophobia, sibling death, chronic illness, depression, classism, adult/minor relationship, trauma
mention: abandonment, racism, sexism, murder, drug use, suicidal thoughts, infertility, pandemic, vomit

It only takes a few words when it’s people like us, the imperfect citizens of this perfectly known world. She told me things I do not wish to know, because they hurt to know, then we both looked instinctively for cameras and drones and microphones.
Listened to the audiobook version of Such Thoughts Are Unproductive by Rebecca Campbell. Available here. Really impressed, definitely recommend.
