It was fantastically executed. The ghosts, the plots, all the extra characters and how it all ties in with the storyline, SO👏PERFECT!👏 And I loved the humour, although at times it did get a bit cringe, but I really liked it. It really put me in a good mood.
I really appreciate the presence of the Brontës in here, and did I mention the multi-POVs???? I loved how the romance was instead focused between Charlotte and Alexander who are just the cutest!!! 💗💗💘💗
I did also enjoy the “references“? I don’t know what they’re called. The mini fact-checks, I guess. Those were really nice. Admittedly, there were times I felt they were annoying, but overall, I really liked them.

“Of course I’ve been lying. I’m a politician.”
Overall, I'd say I even enjoyed this book better than My Lady Jane, something I didn't think was even possible.

A lot of these are issues in the original Jane Eyre story too, but all of them are called out in this retelling. They are also handled in a more YA fashion, so there isn't a lot of detail. But still, in a story about ghosts there is naturally a lot of death and murder, even of children.fromjuliereads's review against another edition

I must admit that I enjoyed this book more than My Lady Jane, and that is definitely because of the characters of Charlotte and Mr. Blackwood. They were such fantastic characters! And Helen. She had some great moments.
This is such a well done weaving of mysteries and ghost stories with some good comedy and a hint of romance. And I loved it. I wish I could be dropped into this book... ghosts and all!

There is a paragraph that is a Harry Potter reference. It doesn't name Harry Potter, but if you have read the books or seen the movies, the reference will be apparent.brookey8888's review against another edition

I did get annoyed with the constant use of parentheses and the way the authors constantly talk directly to the reader. That drew me away from the story and I found it hard to jump back into the story after that.
I have never read Jane Eyre but I do know the basic story enough to know that this book definitely did not follow the original plot line. I actually like this version a lot more. Who doesn’t love a spooky ghost retelling??
