Had a hard time getting through the start of the book - characters just needed to communicate and this whole thing could've been avoided. I found it frustrating - just tell the truth and talk already! Plot picked up a bit and I finished it but some parts felt very tedious. Enjoyed the best friend relationship more than the romantic one.

2023: this is my comfort Christmas book so I just had to reread it this year. I still loved the will they, won’t they romance and the 3 main characters. It was a lot cheesier to me this time around and I definitely noticed a few plot points that felt a little rushed, but the overall vibe and nostalgia around this book for me made me so happy to read it once again.

2022: i honestly didn’t have super high expectations for this book when i picked it up, but wow i honestly loved it! this was such a sweet (and frustrating) will they, won’t they storyline. the structure was great with alternating narrations between laurie and jack. it wrapped up with a super cheesy (but cute) ending that i loved! a little cheesy and cliche all in all, but it made me happy reading it.

This is a great rom com book... Part Bridget Jones's diary, part Hallmark movie. I liked the characters.

This one pulled at my cold heart. I loved that all the relationships were real, even if they weren't right. Everything about Laurie and Oscar made me especially sad. Happy I waited til December to read it instead of as a summer beach read.

I am so surprised by the negative reviews here.
I guess it all made perfect sense to me bc it was very realistic.
- Jack and Laurie falling in love like that wasn't perfectly believable, but is somewhat. But that was half the joy in it. Playing with the idea of love at first sight.
- Sarah and Laurie's friendship is absolutely incredible. It is one of my favorite relationships in the entire book. Just dynamic and fantastic.
- Jack and Laurie really seem to want to love Sarah well and screw it up some.
- Jack was stupid for saying "let's keep that between us like it never happened" but his character admits that immediately.
- Laurie married the wrong man.

After finishing my grad school finals this was exactly what I needed. Not deep at all, but entertaining. I have some conflicting feelings about the ending, but it was an enjoyable read.

I won't rate this because I recognize that this genre is very much atypical of what I would normally pick up and enjoy. However, I still wanted to pick this up to see if I enjoyed it. This simply didn't do it for me. There was truly zero chemistry between the main pair we are meant to be rooting for outside of "I saw you all those years ago and felt it was destiny." My rating would be a 2/5 if I had to give it one.

4.5 Stars. This book was just such a pleasure to read. You get all the feels and I really loved our main three characters. The story is sweet and easy read. My only wish is for an epilogue like five years down the road.
