I always love a MacLean and Heartbreaker was no different. Adelaide and Clayborn work so well together in this slow burn, road trip romance. MacLean is so adept at showing the ways in which characters who are seemingly total opposites can find similarities and grow together. Adelaide has a chip on her shoulder a mile wide because of the way she was brought up and Clayborn takes his time to slowly show her that she's not alone and in fact is quite loved by many. In doing so, together they learn that our past is not what shapes us, but rather the choices we make and the battles we fight show more about our character than the circumstances of our birth.

It is clear, and MacLean has discussed this on twitter and Fated Mates, that this series is about women who work to create change in their world. I fully recommend reading Bombshell and Heartbreaker when you need a romance with a heroine who fights back.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book and the series. I recommend Sarah MacLean to anyone and this book had me invested from page one. Adelaide and Clayborn may be my new favorites from this series...I'll just have to do a re-read of all of them to confirm.

If you haven't started this series yet, definitely fix that and quickly. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and truly anything else MacLean wants to publish.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the copy in exchange for an honest review.
