Make Your Bed: Small things that can change your life... and maybe the world by William H. McRaven

This book is very military based at times. But it also has a lot of good life stories and how we should keep going. If we have to ask for help then do it, don't just wait around or try to tough it out alone. Almost everyone is relying on someone else when things get tough, rather it just be someone else being there with them going through the same thing or them supporting you while you go through something tough. Surround yourselves with friends and nurture those relationships.

It's a fine book for a few pithy quotes. Would have been better as a long-form magazine article.

Unfortunately could not relate to this book whatsoever. I respect that the reasonings for the "things that can change your life" are anecdotal, however it was disheartening to only see the mention of men, when there are countless women serving in the military.
Not to mention the narrator comes across as someone with extreme privilege, and the perspectives given are written in such a pompous way...

Quick read (or listen in my case). Basically, make your bed every morning for the routine and to start fresh each day.

A very brief, very repetitive book. I would have liked this much more if the lessons had been rolled into a more cohesive biography of the author. From the anecdotes in the book, it sounds like the admiral has quite an interesting story to tell. The book would have been a much smoother and engrossing read if he has stuck to timeline and sprinkled the advise into a much larger story. I would recommend “It’s Your Ship” over this book.

The book is just like a typical self-help book which tells us basic things like Teamwork, The power of hope, don't give up, and stuff like that. You'll finish this book in less than a day, it's that short.
