This was by far the best installment of the series so far. This may be one of the best explorations of the ethics of war and the choices we make that I have read or watched. I particularly liked that seemingly moral choices often have horrific results, and that you never truly can know the consequence of your actions, you can only make the best choices you can with the information you have. I loved getting to learn so much about the cultures and societies of other races we've been introduced to, and viewing humans from the Andalite perspective was both hilarious and fascinating. This is a very brutal book in many ways, but it is also one that is so nuanced and gives you so much to chew on. I am doing a book club with this book and four 30 something year olds were easily able to talk about it for 2 hours. This did make me think a lot about DS9 and I think the Star Trek influences are pretty clear (in a positive way).
