I’m having a hard time rating this book because it was very information overload and hard to keep track of statistics (I don’t keep track of numbers well over audio). But at the same time I loved hearing about these stories of women who are fighting back against the standard no matter the odds against them.

I really struggled with this book. It has plenty of incredible and important content in the form of the various women interviewed, which is why I have given it two stars. Unfortunately the author's framing narrative and tone really frustrated me. It felt judgemental, picking at the parts of some of the interviewees that the author didn't agree with. Further, the book completely lacks any interdisciplinary nuance, which is an extreme oversight in a 21st century feminist text, to say the least. This book feels distinctly catered towards a commercial version of feminism which just doesn't sit well with me. I read this as part of a book club, and everyone felt very similarly.
