My least favorite of the first three, but a lot of the delving into the deep philosophical issues in an entertaining way, which is my favorite thing about the series, is still there.

The story itself was interesting but it was a long, drawn out story. I think it could have been told in like 1/3 of the time. Definitely my least favorite of the Ender's Game series so far.

Eh. This book had some interesting things but was not as engaging as the previous books in the series.

Overall pretty good. Started with interesting plot points. Throughout the middle the story got a bit slow and was difficult to get through. Once you get passed the middle, the story gets much better and has an interesting ending.

I can't believe I never finished this series before now. That said, adult Ender is complex and harder to appreciate.

I enjoyed this book, but in all honesty it could have been like 200 pages shorter. I DESPISED Novinha in this book; it’s obviously understandable that she is still deeply affected by Libo and Pipo’s fates, but she is so annoying and irrational when it comes to decisions regarding her children and Ender. Ender loves her so much and she is so constantly cruel to him it’s hard to read, but for whatever reason he still refuses to see any flaws in her. Miro’s deus ex machina at the end was kind of unfulfilling and made his disability look like a plot convenience, and Quara was also annoying as hell. The redeeming qualities of this book were the chapter intros between Human and the bugger queen, the deeper insights into pequenino and bugger culture, and the culture and characters on the Path world; all of these sections were unique and interesting and were the only reason I finished this. All of Novinha’s kids are either angels or the absolute worst, and it got old fast. The Path chapters and the other aforementioned items made the plot interesting, but a lot of the random fluff on Lusitania should’ve been cut. 3 stars.
