When is a ghost not a ghost? When Lord Patrick is caught between life and death and "haunting Lady Laura. In Jane Charles' book a ghostly Lord Patrick shows up in the haunted wing of Torrington Abbey where Laura is trying to write a book. The more they interact the more real he becomes.
Meanwhile, the physical Lord Patrick had been attacked on the road to deliver a message to Laura from her brother and his ghost can't remember what happened to him.
