The Good Daughter started off quick-paced but then it took until chapter ten (about 340 pages in) to pick back up for me. I’m looking forward to trying another Karin Slaughter read!

I can’t say this was a bad book. But overall I really struggled with it. I think it was too dark for me. And then it was long so that added to the struggle.
All the trigger warnings.

Also it used my pet peeve phrase of raising and lowering the shoulders. Even though it used shrug not too far later. So clearly the author knows that word. Gah!

This is the most gruesome traumatic story I've ever read.
There was no need to retell the trauma 3x with increasing detail. My mental health did not need this. How this book has an over 4 star rating is shocking and disappointing. I'm giving this 2 stars because the writing is good, but the logic is faulty at worst and unlikely at best, and the traumatic repetition made me deeply dislike the book.

Not a typical Slaughter book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Although there were no big twists throughout, the beginning chapters are in typical Slaughter fashion - fast paced, brutal and gut wrenching. I had to put it down after the first chapter just to digest what had happened.

This isn't a thriller novel, but i5mt does cover some pretty graphic stuff - make sure to check your trigger warnings before diving in.
